In 1865, Georges Favre-Jacot brought together what is said to be the first watchmaking manufacture. At a mere age of 22 in the year 1911, Favre-Jacot changed the name of the manufacture (which until then had been named after him) to Zenith. Legend has it that he was walking under a starry sky in the Swiss mountains when the idea of naming his company after the highest point in the sky came to him; symbolic of his aspirations and dreams for the company and its workers. Hence, a star became the symbol of the company.
Over the years, Zenith grew from strength to strength, garnering over 1,500 awards and creating more than 50 calibres that have caught the world’s attention. Most notable is the El Primero movement which was launched in 1969. Being the first integrated automatic chronograph, it was triumphant in having met the challenge of fitting in maximum technical functionality into the smallest possible space. Today, it is said to be still the fastest automatic chronograph and the most precise in the world.
Collectors of fine watches will therefore be excited by the special limited edition Defy Xtreme Tourbillon available only at Sincere’s Haute Horlogerie Boutique.
