Another relative newcomer to the world of fine timepieces is the Master of Complications himself, Franck Muller, who launched his own brand only in 1992. Spanning just a dozen years, the brand has been firmly established as one that has something for someone. The most mind-boggling of Muller’s complications include the most complicated watch in the world which debuted in 1992, which featured the original minute repeater, Grande et Petite Sonnerie, perpetual calendar with retrograde month, weekday, date, 24-hours indicator, moonphase, thermometer, retrograde monthly equation and hours, minutes and seconds. There were a total of 651 parts.
His visionary creativity and technical mastery has given birth to a wide range of watches, including the stunning Double Mystery Watch, the popular Long Island collection, the ingenious Crazy Hours collection and now, at the pinnacle of his creations, the Franck Muller Aeternitas.
Launched in 2006, this is the world’s first everlasting timepiece that is dedicated to true enthusiasts of complicated movements. The Cintree Curvex shaped automatic movement with a micro-motor at the 6 o clock position has a power reserve of eight days and has a grand tourbillon of 14mm. The white relief 3D dial is an understated testament to the complex powerhouse within the platinum case. The Aeternitas perpetual calendar is the first watch in the world that accommodates the leap day that is omitted every 100 years. That is, in the year 2100 when all perpetual calendars have to be readjusted in their factories, the Aeternitas will continue its steady performance. The special three piece only limited edition for Sincere’s Haute Horlogerie boutique shares the common basic movement of the Aeternitas, but although it does not offer the eternal calendar, the exceptional movement within is already an iconic keepsake desired by collectors everywhere.
