The most revered name in German high watchmaking – A. Lange & Söhne – is synonymous with probably the most famous success story and the pivot of legendary change in the history of Saxony.
A dynasty of master watchmakers was birthed in the 19th century at the Royal Court of Saxony when Adolph Lange pursued apprenticeship under the auspices of Royal Saxon clockmaker, J.C. Friedrich Gutkaes. When Adolph Lange heard about the rampant poverty in the Ore Mountains, he made a momentous decision to establish the German precision watchmaking industry, bringing back jobs and sustenance. Under adverse conditions, he continued to pioneer manufacturing techniques and measuring instruments. Although the manufactory was completely destroyed by World War II bombings in 1945 and expropriated by the socialist regime in 1948, the stature of A. Lange & Söhne and the legacy of a celebrated family tradition was finally restored to its former glory by the great-grandson of Adolph Lange and master watchmaker, Walter Lange after the reunification of Germany in 1990.
This October, Sincere the Watch Specialist is proud to present this celebrated German watchmaking legend in an exclusive exhibition, debuting an exclusive museum display of extraordinary horological masterpieces that survived their epoch, along with a series of engaging and information workshops and interactive stations.
